What is ADD/ADHD?
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder is the most prevalent disorder currently diagnosed among elementary school children. People with ADD/ADHD often have
-Distractibility
-Impulsivity
-Hyperactivity
-Inattention
This condition is thought to be partly genetic, but with a huge environmental component including diet, chemical toxicity, and allergies. The good news is you can change your body's function to the point where the patient may no longer meet the diagnostic criteria for ADD/ADHD. Most children will greatly reduce or even eliminate the need for medication when our treatment is completed. (Medication dosage changes should always be made with the guidance of the prescribing physician.)
A recent FDA study by the National Institute of Mental Health claims that drugs, such as Ritalin, increase the risk of sudden death by 500% among children and teens! Even beyond that, Ritalin actually damages the neural connections needed for learning. While it may calm a hyper-active child, so that he is less of a problem in the classroom, it does not create the ability to learn.
There is no one cause and no one fix. We look for neurological deficits, metabolic findings, toxins, food sensitivities, lifestyle factors, barrier compromise and actually visualize the function of the brain with our brain mapping technology. We then tailor make a treatment plan based on your child's needs. We treat the child, not the diagnosis.
